Te Anau

Monday, 14 December

Ned drove from Queenstown to Te Anau in about three hours.  We saw lots of sheep!

We checked in to the darling Fiordland Lakeview Motel and Apartments. Illeana and Grant Taylor are the managers and live on the premises with their two teenage children.  We got a lake view suite with living room, kitchenette, bathroom, and bedroom for $190NZ ($133 USD). After doing the math, we decided to extend and stay two nights.

For dinner we went to Kepler, the restaurant Illeana recommended. In keeping with our United Nations experience, our server was a darling young woman named Avril who is from Buenos Aires! The manager, Diana Pereda, is from Lima, Peru. The chef-owner, Eduardo, is from the south of Chile. We had a lovely meal. Ned had the best s/p squid of the trip, and I had the warm lamb salad with parsnips and other surprising veges (as they call veggies here).
